Congratulations to my Si Jye, Sifu Mai Du, on the fun and energetic anniversary celebration of her school, the Wah Lum Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy, in Malden last weekend.  Despite the unusually chilly breeze and the threat of impending drizzle, the students put on a great exhibition...starting first with dragon dancing and lion dancing!

Then, many of the enthusiastic youngsters showed off their mad kung fu skills with hand forms, fighting sets and weapon forms, while always representing the tenets of fellowship and hard work that Wah Lum upholds!  Why...look who even managed to squeeze a gim form in amongst the bright-eyed and chock-full-of-potential kung fu kiddies :)

After a quick buffet lunch of Chinese food staples - fried rice, lo mein, egg rolls, chicken wings and shrimp chips - to feed the hungry spectators and performers alike, a bunch of the kids participated in a Kick-A-Thon to help support Malden community youth groups and KICK violence off the streets!  After that, Sifu Mai's students presented her with gifts of giant-sized crystal singing bowls for the internal arts of meditation and qi gong.

Our grandmaster Chan Pui, was also visiting from Orlando, FL and with his own special brand of enthusiasm, kung fu longevity and his always-jovial presence, the festivities were that much more special.  With his birthday right around the corner, we celebrated with not ONE, but TWO, gorgeous cakes.  All in all, it was yet another spirited and successful show!  Happy one-year anniversary, Mai, and many, MANY more!
